Your diesel fuel can deteriorate in a number ways. Water is the most common problem, usually from condensation. Water also encourages micro-bacterial growth which can build up in the fuel and this ‘biomass’ will lead to a sludge forming – commonly called ‘The Diesel Bug’. And the fuel itself will tend to deteriorate over time and form a fine sediment. All these contaminants will clog up filters, reduce the fuels performance and lead to expensive damage or loss of power just when you need it most.
We visit your Marina.
DBB use a specially-designed machine to condition and re-optimise all the fuel in your tank. We visit your boat in the marina and using two feeder hoses we extract the fuel from the bottom of the tank and return it to the top of the tank. This ensures that all the fuel has been properly cycled through our machine.
This service is quick and simple. All we need is clear access to your tank and a 220v power point to operate our machine. And it will usually be much cheaper than replacing all the fuel!
How does it work?
Our machine has a number of elements including a powerful pump, a special conditioner, mechanical filters, a couple of special control items and a unique centrifuge to help separate the contaminant from the fuel.
It operates at a high speed and is self-contained within a housing. Having been cleaned and conditioned, the fuel is returned to the top of the tank. We sometimes put in a special additive that will help to prevent bacterial build-up - see the ‘
Consumables’ page.
